The Benevolence Project Promo

Proyecto: Los Marranitos

First of all the name of the village cracks me up. Los Marranitos? The Three Little Pigs! My kind of place.

The benevolence project is a great opportunity for home rooms to donate materials to fill backpacks.

The Dirigo International Service Club will be placing collecting boxes in the main hall for the month of March. Each homeroom will also get a list of what is needed.

If you have a kid-size backpack you are willing to donate, that is the first thing we need. Ms. Edwards is donating 5, so we need 11 more.

Stay tuned for more info....

DR2010

DR2010, originally uploaded by Amity Beane.

The DR planning has sort of exceeded my wildest dreams. The actual trip is in April. This is for my students.

Where there is a tree to plant, you plant it.
Where there is an error to fix,
you fix it.
Where there is work to be done
that no one else will do,
you do it.
You be the one
who removes the stone from the path.

DR2010

DR2010, originally uploaded by Amity Beane.

I'm in the DR right now arranging for the trip in April. A few weeks ago Midence and I arranged a Skype call for Diversity Day. These young people participated on this end and we were able to hang out after class and take a shot. If you click the pic you'll see the notes on each person.

The Cast

The Cast, originally uploaded by Bill Hansen / mogote.

I was trying to think of the best way to describe professional people in the DR as my trip is coming up and my teachers are meeting with Midence's crew and we all sort of need to come to some cultural understanding of each other.

Americans, sometimes infamous for casual wear...

So this is a nice shot from Bill in Jarabacoa of a teacher and some people filming a scene of enjoying some of Jarabacoa's famous ices.
